A followup message from Linda Hagler:

Jonny was one of the first people I met when I moved to Midland in August 1970. He immediately made me feel welcome. Jonny sat across from me in Mr. Watkins Anthropology class at Austin Freshman School. Our senior year, Jonny sat behind me in Hank Sellers Music Theory class. He was one of the kindest and friendliest classmates at LHS and had a great sense of humor. May God rest Jonny's soul and bless his family with a peace that passes all understanding.

Jonny and I go way back -- so far back that I don't even remember when I first met him. Jonny said that we were in the same Cub Scout troop. He remembered me as "the guy with the big eyes". The first time I remember seeing him I was in the fourth grade at Bonham Elementary and he was playing guitar in a band with Tommy Gibson on drums (both in the whopping sixth grade!).The very next year I got my first guitar. I really didn't see Jonny again until my first year at Lee High in 1974. He was, once again, playing in a band with Tommy on drums and Charles Considine playing a raunchy piano. Soon after we started playing music together and our friendship truly began. Jonny has been with me throughout the years as a friend, fellow musician, and most recently, a spiritual mentor.

Jonny, I will miss you dearly. Someday I will see you again my brother.
