In Memory

Charles Considine

(Message sent June 24, 2009)

I have some bad news for you to relay to our friends this weekend. Charles Considine passed away yesterday due to complications during surgery for throat cancer. He had been fighting cancer for a couple years and had overcome the worst of it. In fact, he had been given a short time to live two years ago, but because of new treatments and Charles' unfailing spirit, he had sent the cancer into remission. And then after all that, he died of complcations during surgery.
He did live longer than expected and was able to walk his daughter down the aisle a few months ago, which was a very emotional moment for Charles, his friends and his family.
As of this moment, there is no funeral planned (his body is being cremated at the hospital in Tulsa) or any other service planned. I'm sure there will be a get together in Austin soon, but nothing is planned that I know of.
I'm sorry to deliver bad news, especially on the eve of the reunion, but I thought people would want to know.

I always considered Charles a good friend and just a great person. We were both acolytes at St Nicolas Episcopal Church. His dad was the priest there and I always considered him a second father.

Charles never had a bad thing to say acbout anyone, his presence always was enjoyed and he was always interesting and fun to be around.

God speed my friend.

I was here at The Cancer Center many times when Charles was there, he fought this with everything he had & then some. He will be missed greatly by so many people who's hearts he touched. My prayers go out to his family. See you later my friend :)

It had been many years since I saw Charles, but my memories of him will never fade. There was always something special about Charles. I never left him with out feeling up-lifted. He never spoke a bad thing about anyone. He loved life, and shared that joy with every one. He taught me how to play Amazing Grace on the piano.
I never told him how much that I loved him. It just never came up. His passing has taught me to tell people close, the value of our friendship. We are the Generation that taught peace, and shared love with all the people. He stood against injustic, and helped the needy.
I love you Charles, for all you did to make Life better. The times we spent together, were special - and will always be cherished.
Ja Love,
David McDowell

I miss you Charles. I can still hear your boogie piano to this day. I'm sure it's because you're still playing it! You were a wonderful friend to me over the years and I cherish the times that we had together. I will see you again one day.

You were a beautiful person Charles.
